Artist Statement

I am a watercolor artist living in Chisago City, Minnesota.  I love to paint with brilliant colors, and I especially enjoy using lots of complimentary pairs.  It’s fun to see objects “pop!”  My camera is always with me.  I take a lot of photos, and then use parts of several to come up with an original composition. 

Giant tie-dye animals are one of my favorite subjects.  I am proud of my big moose and heron paintings.  I often choose to paint local buildings/homes and make them look their best.  I could call it “Glamour Shots” for buildings.  I also enjoy painting florals, abstracts, and still life.

I am inspired by the beautiful colors of nature and the “accidents” that occur when my paints mix on my palette.  Wherever I go, I look for new subjects to paint, and I usually succeed in finding way too many.  Using my home computer, I create prints and note cards of many of my original paintings. 

I get a kick out of it, when people grin at my artwork!
